Terra TDX-420C , 2x DVB-S/S2 (8PSK, QPSK) to 2x DVB-T (COFDM) Transmodulator
The Terra TDX-420C R81619 transmodulator is designed for receiving DVB-S/S2 signals (8PSK/QPSK), selecting desired TV channels, and retransmitting them in COFDM format within specified RF channels in the VHF/UHF frequency range.
This device supports both free-to-air and encrypted satellite channels thanks to its full CI/CAM compatibility. A single TDX-420C R81619 panel can receive signals from two satellite transponders and convert them into two adjacent DVB-T multiplexes, each with a maximum throughput of 31.66 Mbps.
In practical applications, each multiplex can typically carry up to 6 SD channels or 2-3 HD channels.
Flexible Configuration Options:
- Possibility to create a single DVB-T multiplex using channels from two different satellite transponders.
- It is recommended to maintain a 10% safety margin when calculating the total bit rate for each multiplex – typically, the bit rate should not exceed 29 Mbps per multiplex.
- If additional bandwidth is required, the system can easily be expanded by adding extra TDX-420C R81619 units.
- The output DVB-T COFDM multiplexes are usually distributed via a passive RF network using splitters and taps, which is an excellent solution for modern hotel TV systems offering a wide range of satellite channels, including HD broadcasts.
Simple Management and Configuration:
The device is configured through a user-friendly web interface via the RJ-45 Ethernet port, which makes installation and system management fast and convenient.
The TDX-420C R81619 panel is equipped with two CI slots.
When receiving encrypted channels, suitable Conditional Access Modules (CAM) and smart cards matching the satellite transponder’s encryption system must be installed to decrypt the selected channels.
Key Advantages and System Integration:
One of the standout features of the Terra TDX-420C is its seamless integration with various other components in satellite and terrestrial TV distribution systems:
- dSCR/Unicable multiswitches – enabling independent distribution of DVB-S/S2 signals over a single coaxial cable.
- IPTV streamers – for distributing satellite, terrestrial, and cable DVB channels across Ethernet (LAN) networks based on twisted-pair cabling.
- Optical transmitters – for transmitting TV signals over fiber optic links.
- Additional signal processing equipment – such as broadband and channel amplifiers, as well as analog and digital modulators.
Key Features:
- Conversion of DVB-S/S2 signals to DVB-T COFDM format
- Processing signals from two satellite transponders into two adjacent DVB-T multiplexes
- Option to create a single DVB-T multiplex from two different transponders
- Channel selection and filtering of unnecessary services from the digital stream
- Simple configuration via RJ-45 port, making installation quick and efficient
- Two CI slots – enabling decryption of pay TV channels (multidescrambling support)
- Remote management over the Internet
- Access to event logs and system history directly from the panel
- AGC (Automatic Gain Control) – ensures stable signal levels
Alternative Models:
For DVB-S/S2 to DVB-C conversion, the following models are available:
- Terra TDQ-420C R81639 – DVB-S/S2 (8PSK, QPSK) to 2x DVB-C (QAM), featuring two CI slots.
- Terra TDQ-420 R81638 – DVB-S/S2 (8PSK, QPSK) to 2x DVB-C (QAM).
